  Best apple pie! Best fish pie! Get there early on the weekend.
  
  The avo on toast and chilli scramble on toast were tasty too. Friendly staffs.
  
  A dog and horse friendly cafe (yes, horse).

  The menu is small and not much choice for vegetarian and vegan. Coffee was good and more of a bakery style Cafe, where they have lots of pies selling for $9.50 each and pastries. 4 salads to choose from for $9 small and $16 large. I ordered the cruffin and wasn't impressed, it's basically a croissant made into a muffin shape, the pastry dry and the filling in the middle has more of a butter texture. The chicken parma was a bit dry. Atmosphere was good though, it has a nice Lavender field and green for picnics.

  Delicious poached egg with Avo for late lunch but bit of a wait. Self service with cutlery. Order, pay & wait patiently. Also had lovely almond friand with frothy cappuccino. Surcharge is quite hefty on weekends. Either sit in or alfresco. Pretty busy on Sat 6 Oct - I had to park in the Lavender farm car park at the back.

  Great pies and pastries, especially the small apple pies. Homely atmosphere with plenty of seating inside and outside and fast and friendly service. We'll be back on next visit to the Peninsula.

  Honestly, I was quite disappointed this visit. I've always been a big fan of Johnny Ripe and I've recommended it to many people. We were looking forward to the pastries this morning but was a little let down by the quality of the food. We dined in and first of all, the bench seats weren't cleaned and had crumbs all over (we arrived at 10am). My favourite chicken and tarragon pie was a let down with the soggy pastry bottom, and the crust wasn't very flaky and crunchy but soft. The kranksy on brioche was served in a takeaway box on top of a plate and had cold bacon in it. Coffees were also very average. The toilets wasn't well maintained with wet patches and broken soap dispenser. We normally get a few desserts to share and pies to take home but didn't do that this visit. Would recommend going to the Giddy Bullfrog Gallery and Tearooms 10mins away for excellent scones instead. Lastly, they do a 7.5% surcharge on weekends which they didn't mention when paying. It is written on the menu though, but maybe try and avoid weekends if that's not your thing. Apart from that, the service was good and there was a nice ambience from the lit fireplace. The grounds were also beautiful and there's a lavender farm across the restaurant. It might be a while before the next visit. We do hope that some of these issues are fixed for the future.

  had the Harvest Bowl, love the combination of beet roots, purple carrots, pumpkin seeds, chick peas, black sesame etc. Feels healthier eating this already. Prana chai latte on the other way was not good, lacks spices, tastes more like a latte w cinnamon powder. Jaffles was delicious according to my friend. Staffs were v nice and friendly.
